Q: Ornaments?
Where do I find the best cheap christmas tree ornaments for a chirstmas tree in a teenage girl's bedroom?
Bright colors: orange, hot pink, yellow, lime green!
I already have the tree!
A: Hi
I love the Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments and I buy them every year for our tree. However, the prices on some of them are getting a little beyond my holiday budget.
Last year, while I was shopping for a Wal-Mart exclusive item, I decided to take a look at the ornaments that they had on display.
To my amazement, They had great ornaments without the expensive price tags. They had really nice ones for way cheaper than the Hallmark ones.
I havent gotten a chance to get over to Walt-Mart myself yet, so I can't tell you anything about what kind of ornaments that they have this year but it may worth checking them out for your daughter's tree.
I hope this helps you. Good luck.
Q: How many ornaments will I need to decorate a 12 ft Christmas tree?
I just bought a 12 ft artificial tree and I have no idea how many ornaments I'll need to fill it. Does anyone have any experience with a tree this size?
A: Depends on the size of the ornaments but ull need quite a bunch
Q: What are aquarium ornaments made from, making them safe for aquariums & freshwater fish?
I'd like to go to my local craft store & perhaps find one of those little buildings that you paint yourself. But I don't know what aquarium ornaments are made from. Also, if I were to find the right item made from the right material, what kind of craft paint would be safe to paint them with? The ones we buy have to be painted with something. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
A: They are usually plastic resin or ceramic (pottery)
It just has to be something inert and basically food safe.
Painting is more difficult, the paint has to be totally waterproof and tough enough to handle cleaning after soaking in water for weeks.

Q: How do I get paint off pewter ornaments?
I have some tiny pewter ornaments that have previously been painted but now they just look tatty, how do I get the paint off without spoiling the ornaments?
A: Paint on a mix of linseed oil and turpentine; then wash in warm soapy water and polish as usual. Never use metal polish. I know that when I have dropped an essential oil on a painted surface it has lifted the paint, so this may be the answer. Could have to repeat it few times, but at least it is safe
Q: What's the most organized and efficient way to store ornaments?
We have a million different kinds and sizes of ornaments (pewter, handmade, regular, heavy, etc) and I hate storing them in the boxes they came in - not to mention trying to put them all back in the boxes to put back into storage for the other 11 months of the year. Is there something that is space-efficient but great at organizing how I can safely store my ornaments??
A: go to walmart they have ornament storage boxes
Q: What ornaments would go goes with a white tree?
I have a white pre-lite tree with multi color lights, what color ornaments would go good with that?
Or does it matter?
A: If the tree has multicolored lights you can choose any color ornaments you want.
Although a single color of glass ornaments may look nice, it may seem a little cold and boring. Holidays are about warmth...
You may want to select smaller ceramic or wooden designs that will add to the overall look of the tree and holiday decorations.
Or you could place multicolored glass ornaments near the lights of the same color, it may make the glass glow brighter. I don't really like this look but you won't know until you try.
However, if you want a single color, find something that compliments the overall decor of your home (or at least the room that houses the tree).
Q: What do ornaments in japanese gardens serve?
What is the purpose of having ornaments and decorations. Please answer soon. My project is due on Wednesday.
A: They serve as functional hardscape that adds beauty, function, and value. Many japanese hardscape objects are large rocks and fountains.
It would really depnd on the object and setting. I mean the land could be really muddy so they made it into a pond and the land could be really dry so they made it into a rock garden with a layer of crushed rocks and then large rocks as the beauty.
Often in japanese culture it will have to deal with family and so on. If their ancestors was known for being a great gerneral or something then maybe they may have war type statues and so on.
They would also add a bench and small japanese pld style shed to place their equipment in and to add beauty.
So this would be a example of a garden and the hardscape in it.
Lets say you are at the entrance and there is a rock pathway leading to a mulch and stones pathway. Well the items there would be there to make a walk way with beauty and funtion. There maybe a few large rocks or some kind of statue or birdbath foutian next to the entrance on one side and on the other side it may be a small retaining wall with a rock garden to ground cover garden. The purpose of those would to make the entrance and exit easy to locate and invite people in or out with a good impression.
The pathway may be on higher ground and in one direction the ground slopes down by 3 feet so they may do something like this. They create a small deep pond on the higher ground and it exits into a stream that turns into a waterfall that goes down the slope and at the lower ground ends into a larger more shallow pond with some water lilies in it. The purpose of all of that would to work with the land so create something that would go natural with the slope and so on and add beauty.
Around the pond on the top and bottom would be a barrier of stones or wood or some kind of water loving plant. The purpose would to add beauty and its function would to help keep people from getting to close and falling into the pond so they place something between the persona nd pond.
Obviously steps or a ramp would led down the slope and the purpose would to be helping people get down. Then the pathway would contine and the function of the pathway is to keep people on it and not stepping on grass or plants or wondering off.
So I hope that gives you some indeas to run with and why they place what they place where they place it.
Everything will be there to have a funtion first and then beauty second. But both are equally important. Like the steps on the slope could be plain or detailed with ground edged away and steping stones with sideings and so on but either way the first thing would to help people get down.
With the pathway it could be plain or also very detailed. But the main purpose would be to keep people on the path.
Normally retaining walls and rocks are used to keep poeple from going to the otherside.
The path is to keep people on it.
Ponds are to add beauty and value and add a refreshing sound to the area. Same as with the fountains.
Fountians may also serve as birdbaths to add beauty and attract birds.
Nice sheds are normally there to add beauty and to store stuff in.
Rails are to keep poeple on path and from a possible dangerous outcome if they wonder from the path in that area.
Signs and so on are there to help direct people and add info and reading to add a learning atmosphere. (such as names of plant or interesting facts or to give acknowledgment to the founders or people of importance.
Birdhouses are there for beauty and to attract birds.
Benches are placed in areas that they may want to encourage people to sit and listen to the sounds of the ponds or to look at the beauty. They may also be placed every so far for those who need to rest more often then others.
Hope this helps and wish you best luck. You can email me with more pacific details.
Q: Whats the best way to clean aquarium ornaments?
My aquarium ornaments are filthy and i've tried using a toothbrush and a sponge.Whats the best way?
A: I set a pot on the stove and boil the ornaments in water. Then, if needed, I scrubb. Boiling kills anything living on it. Just make sure you cool the item before placing it back in the tank.

Q: What can be used to color concrete garden ornaments after they have already been made?
I am looking to color concrete garden ornaments that i have made. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am looking more at a washed out look rather than solid color. I guess you could call it a stain. I commonly see garden ornaments done this way in grey and sandstone colors. Again any help would be great!
Thanks
A: At a local craft store you should find what you need - they make 'Patio paints' especially for outdoor decor and it comes in a small bottle and a paint stick for detail work such as lines or wording - you can thin these paints to create a 'washed stain' effect.
Not hard to find since the name is Patio paint
I bought mine at Michaels craft and hobby store.

Please help me with this. What kind of glue do people use to stick ornaments on body and skin? Can i use eyelash glue? And also, is it easy to remove the glue from the skin without any pain?
A: Yeah use eyelash glue. It will peel off when you want to remove the body ornaments (just do it gently) and a little bit cleanser on a cotton wool pad will remove any residue.
Q: How should I clean a fishtank (+rocks+ornaments) for storage so that it will still be safe for new fish later?
Unfortunately, my last guppy (Ernest) has died. I don't want to get any new fish at the moment, just pack it up. Is there anything that won't store (it's got rocks and ornaments and fake plants)? As it won't be reinhabited immediately, can I use anything stronger than plain water to clean it that won't affect later inhabitants? Any tips on storing it? It's made of hard plastic. Thanks.
A: DO NOT USE DISH SOAP! It does not rinse cleanly away, especially on porous surfaces like rocks and silk plants. The only safe thing to use is vinegar, and even then you must rinse very well after washing.
Use your algae scrubber and vinegar to clean the tank itself. use a toothbrush with or without vinegar to clean the rocks and plastic plants. Silk plants are actually easier to clean if you let them dry out, and then use a dry toothbrush to brush off and dried out algae. Rinse your gravel several times, then lay it out in the sun on a trash bag to dry out. If you have any snails, make sure it is totally dry. Snails can survive in damp gravel for weeks.
When you store your tank, make sure it does not get in any direct sunlight, it will make the plastic cloudy-looking. Make sure everything is dry before storing, and put it in a place that won't get too dusty. About the only thing that might not store well is if you have natural driftwood in your tank. Anything plastic/resin/stone will store perfectly, and will need nothing more than a quick rinse to make it ready to use again.
