Q: What ever happened to the anniversary etiquette gifts that progressed as the relationship progressed?
First anniversary you give each other paper … then as each year progresses, a bigger gift is given. It seems that today’s commercial environment is compelling us to spend all the money on first dates (strangers) and then as the relationship gets familiar to spend less on gifts. How did this tradition get backwards?
A: How did relationships get to be all about gifts, anyways? My husband and I have been married for 29 years, and during that time we've given each other some awesome gifts for occasions, or no occasions at all, and have sometimes been in financial straits where we couldn't afford gifts. And it doesn't matter. Man, we've given each other crazy gifts like an iguana lizard (him to me) and a Trader Vic's "Suffering Bastard" Tiki mug (me to him) and things that didn't cost a lot of money but were just fun.
Gifts are supposed to be from the heart, and are never an obligation; and the whole anniversary gift thing is a ramp invented by the greeting card/gift industry, IMO. A gift is never, ever an obligation in a relationship.
And keeping score (how many gifts, how expensive, etc.) is never a sign of a healthy relationship.

Ideas for a group anniversary gift for my non-profit org?
I belong to a Paranormal research group (ghost hunters). This saturday is our 1yr anniversary and Id like to give everyone a gift. (Im one of the leaders of the group) Something commemorative. I thought about a mug or a pin or something with our logo on. Or even a patch for an equipment bag or jacket. Anyone got any ideas? Hopefully nothing cheesy but Im at a loss!

Q: Does anyone have any ideas for unique or different 1 year anniversary gifts?
Me and my boyfriend have been together for almost a year. Were not going crazy with gifts (low funds lol) but I do want to do something special for him. So far what were doing is going back to the same park we went to when we first started dating, and Im making him a homemade card. Id like to steer away from the whole scrapbook thing..I did something like that for his birthday.. but any suggestions would be amazing!!
A: Well it depends. For my boyfriend and I's 1-year anniversary we went skydiving. It was REALLY amazing, but if you're strapped for cash this might not be the best option (as it did cost us about $200 each). Other things that we have done are had our own picnics and stuff, made each other dinner, even sleeping outside together can be a lot of fun. I think something personal like a homemade card would be perfect, or even write (not type) a letter to him telling him how much he means to you. Remember to keep it personal and remember the little things that are your realationship (e.g. YOUR song or YOUR favourite place). I hope it helps!

A: How about a geneology tree? They can work out how their lineage comes together.
Another idea might be a clock.
For your mother's birthday I would always recommend a spa gift certificate!

Ok so my friends wedding anniversary is coming up this month. I want to get her and the hubby a gift for their anniversary. The reason why I am asking is because me and friend aren't really talking and she made it quite clear she doesn't want to be friends anymore. But I still want to get them something for their anniversary to show them how much I appreciate them. No matter if she wants to be my friend or not I still consider her my friend and I just don't know if it is weird to give anniversary gifts to friends or not. So help me and what should I give them? I was thinking of getting them a gift certificate to a spa or masseuse and a card or maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant what do you guys think?
A: If you really really want to give a gift for their anniversary give them a gift certificate for 2, ( dinner out )or may be a cake with a design of a horse shoe.. ( since it is the symbol ),, hhmm but I will wait till their baby comes into this world and buy some gifts for the baby,, ( what is your idea)

A: Sorry not really any major ideas but i'll be interested to see what other people answer. Our 1 year anniversary is next week, I've ordered him a sax as its an unfulfilled childhood want so maybe there's something he wanted as a child but wasnt allowed, i know for me it was a racer bike with the curled over handles I got a shopper instead but mainly I wanted a Mr Frosty for a few years in a row that never materialised from Santa! My husband is kind of hard to buy for. We are thinking of taking a mini vacation to the beach but were not sure due to weather.
He is not a big sports fan, or concerts. We don't have a ton of money for anything big.

A: Money is NOT important when it comes to gifts that I've remembered.
It is cliche, but when my wife put a lot of thought into something, it was always special and very well received.
Think of something that you guys shared early in your relationship and try to replicate it.
Create a list of why you love him and frame it.
Cook him his favorite meal, don't let him clean up, and take him straight to bed after...
Anything that you put your heeart and mind into, he will love.
