Q: What are some good wedding decoration ideas that will stand out?
My fiance and I are getting married July 26, 2008 and we have most of the planning organized.. My aunt is a wedding coordinator with her own business.. but we are just looking for one kind of decorative thing to stand out... i really didnt want to go with a theme because i would have to match everything together and remember im trying to keep it inexpensive... any ideas on what to go with the horse and carriage decorations... ? my colors are Pink, Red, and white. its not a big wedding.... but very nice.. we have a horse and carriage built and its white its for when we march down the aisle and take our pics standing on... cant really explain it.. but it will be pretty.. someone gave me the ideas to make it look dreamy, luminous, and romantic with white lights and candles... do anyone else have any ideas...? it will be greatly appreciated... dont hestitate to give your input...

A: If your venue allows open flames, have candles, candles, candles - different heights, colors, square pillars, round pillars, tealights, floating, tapers in crystal candle holders etc.... to add sparkle, you can place them on mirrors of various shapes & sizes - the light reflects and it is gourgeous! You can accent the tables with fresh or silk rose petals. If using fresh, the best thing to do is keep them on the roses until shortly before the reception - break off the blooms of the roses and sprinkle them on about an hour before the reception (you will probably need to ask a friend to do this,) That will keep the petals looking fresh all evening. If you are not able to have open flames you can go with battery candles. If you don't care for the way the battery operated candles work, here's a trick. ... Buy mid-quality pillar candles of various heights, colors, etc.. - you don't want to go with low end because they won't burn nicely and you don't want to go with high end because they will take forever to burn for this project - Since you have a year, you have plenty of time to prepare for this - burn the pillar candles long enough for the centers to drop down 1.5 to 3 inches - take battery operated tealights and place them down inside - you will have the look of a lit pillar candle without an open flame and you won't be able to see the battery operated candle. You can experiment - it is lovely. White lights wrapped in tulle is lovely to. You can use it to wrap columns, to accent tables such as the gift table, place card table, entrances etc... A very nice touch is to make sure you carry over your decorations into the restrooms - in this case, candles and petals. It's something that really gets noticed. You can also place courtesy baskets in the restrooms - nail files, tissues, hair spray, lotion, mints etc.... The guests LOVE it! Best wishes!!

A: I just typed in decorated gazebo on the search line and clicked on images on the top tool bar. I couldn't count how many came up. Too many to pass on the web sites. The pictures were beauiful so I am sure you will find what you are looking for. Best wishes and Good Luck!

Q: Wedding decoration: What is the best way to pin or secure gossamer to walls, ceilings and fabric back-drops?

A: I think if I had to do that, I'd get some of those tiny safety pins and pin a little square of regular fabric to the net gathered up in a little bunch, so you have something firm to stick a thumb-tack into the walls. Or safety-pin it through the regular fabric square you attached onto other fabric back-drops.

Q: Using glow necklaces for wedding decoration?
I was wondering if anyone had ever experimented with using glow necklaces (the kind you can buy in bulk for cheap, or at events like halloween or marti gra) to light up flower vases for wedding reception centerpieces. I just need to know if they are waterproof. I'd want to fill the vases with a vase-filler solution (the kind you buy at craft stores) put the floral arrangement in it, and then ad the activated glow necklace. Has anyone tried this before? Do you think it will work? Thanks for your advice!

A: they are waterproof I have never used them to light up flower vases but used to make the kids who wanted to go swimming when it was close to dark wear them. Sounds very interesting if done right, we are using led lit spheres and light up drink fountains. Never thought of glowsticks

Q: Is it tacky to use artificial flowers for wedding decoration?
I have a calla lily themed wedding. I found these beautiful silk calla lilies bushes that are going to be on a stand with ivy leaves hanging off the bottoms to decorate the church. The arrangements look beautiful and real....not cheap at all. They are going to be on a stand lining both sides of the aisle....they really look beautiful I got some from save-on-crafts.com and afloral.com

A: I used artificial flowers at my wedding and no one could tell the difference until they touched them. I have terrible allergies and I was not going to go though the day with allergy eyes in all of the photographs. I think especially at a church, they will look beautiful. You might even think about donating some of the decorations to the church so they can be used by someone who might not be able to afford the decorations or lilies can be used at Easter time.

Q: What colors are the most appropiate for a wedding decoration?

A: Usually pastel colors unless you are into bolder colors. Really...it's up to YOU what colors you want. Usually the dominate color is the color of the bridesmaides dresses or the main colors in your bridal bouquet. Good luck!

Q: Where would ribbons be in a wedding, decoration wise?
My nana and I went shopping earlier and while we were at a crafting store she found spools of peach and mint ribbons and wound up buying several. She says she feels silly but says if my dad and his woman don't use them I could have them. I don't want my nana to feel silly so what could we do with the ribbons?

A: There are plenty of things you can use ribbon for. You can make bows to put at the ends of the alters, or to tie around table decorations, or flower girl baskets. You can tie them around chairs. You can even use them on your invitations. I got married in August. We used ribbon on our invitations, I hole punched the tops of them and thread the ribbon through and tied a bow. We also had a bottle of champagne on each table, which had a blue and white ribbon bow on each bottle. We had some ribbon hanging from the ceiling of our white tent to help spiff it up some. There are plenty of craft ideas. http://wedcraft.com/ This site has a whole list, not just for ribbon but in general. http://www.superweddings.com/bridalcrafts.html

Q: I need wedding decoration ideas?
I am getting married on October 11th. I need some more decoration ideas for an outdoor wedding. My colors are red, black, and ivory. I am already decorating an arch. We are getting married by a pool and having a reception under a carport. I would like to hang something on top of the carport or something. I thought about lights but it is going to be at 2 pm so I didn't think anyone could see them. Anyway I would really like some unique ideas!! I am using dark red and ivory roses for my bouquet!!

A: Take baby breath and red rose petals weave them together. After wards hang around the perimeter of carport..After that, take red roses and hang them along the post of the carport.

Q: Goldfish in wedding decoration?
I am thinking about putting about six Gerber daisies in a large rectangular vase for my table centerpieces at my wedding. I want to put a gold fish in there as well but I'm worried about them dying. They would only be in there for half a day at most. What do you think? Any advise?

A: Wow, these answerers are paranoid. It's only half a day, your goldfish will be fine. And if the fish isn't fine, then who cares? It's your WEDDING. You should be able to do whatever you want. A six dollar goldfish (I assume you'll get a pretty one) is an acceptable loss for your WEDDING, for crying out loud. It's just a fish; where are their priorities? And it'll probably be fine anyway (I've rescued fish from worse) (carnivals, fairs, Walmart, all of them treat the fish worse for weeks and weeks than you will for half a day). Honey, if that's what you want for your wedding, do it. The fish will be fine, and you only get one chance for your wedding. Have it like you want it.

A: Hobby Lobby, for $10 or $15 I think
