Q: Affordable ways to make wedding table decorations?
We are going to have over 500 people at my sister's wedding and there are tables of 10.
For each table we want the centrepiece decorations but we want to make them ourselves.
Are there any ideas, websites etc. to offer help and affordable ways to make them?
Care to share whats so funny?
Oh um...theme? We lack that lol. This is a south asian wedding so we dont really do themes.
And the table cloth is off white and the napkins are to match my sister's wedding dress; they are burgundy/maroon.
A: We bought little fish bowls and the little bags of pearly marbled stones for a dollar apiece at the dollar store, put a 7 cent gold fish in each. The colors go with anything and the goldfish are great little gifts for the little ones that come to the wedding. Throw some glittery confetti around them and set up some nut dishes made with lace hot glue and clear plastic disposable dishes and the bowls magnify and distort things around them just enough to make it pretty. Good luck, congratulations and God Bless!
Q: I need ideas for inexpensive table decorations for a 100th birthday celebration for six tables.?
It is a party for a gentleman. Also ideas for the serving table.
A: Memorabilia from the 1900's would be cool. Like photos of old cars and clothes. There's a magazine my grandmother gets called Reminisce, and it has lot's of old pictures in it. You could find out what his favorite sports team was when he was a teen, and what his favorite music was, and what he liked to wear. Make a collage of photos and have them printed out on place mats that guests can take home after the party. I read somewhere that older people like bright colors (like we did when we were little), so use primary colors for the balloons and paper streamers.
Q: Where can I find cheap mirrors for wedding table decorations?
We are looking to put 3" mirrors under votive candle holders for our wedding and I can't find very cheap ones online. I'm looking for something under $0.20 each as we'll need 3-4 per table and around 20 tables.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
A: go to this website, if my math is correct, the are .15 each in packs of 10. (btw I got the idea from the person who suggested using mirror tiles and that is what I put in the search engine
Q: What table decorations can i use for a formal science-themed party?
I'm hosting a dinner with a science theme for 60 people. There will be 8 round tables with black tablecloths. I'm struggling to create beautiful centrepieces which correlate to the theme. Please help!
A: Test tube rack with water in each test tube and add a few drops of different food colouring into each. Then add a single white flower into each and see if the petals change colour.
Dry ice would be so effective as a center piece or even on arrival.
For place mats you can make round mats like the planets
For favors you could give sweets like mars, milkyway, galaxy, starburst, flying saucers and space dust.
You could set out the room as the solar system with tables in accordance to order.
Q: Does anyone have ideas for Easter table decorations and placecard?
I am having realtives this year from my side of the family, Italian and my spouse's Greek and want to do something special for the dining room table such as name place cards and decoration for the buffet table.
A: I would buy chocolate eggs and use frosting to write each guest's name one one. Place it in a small Easter basker with some Easter basket grass and a few jelly beans.
Q: I need some ideas for cheap table decorations for my wedding?
Any ideas would be good as well as where I can buy the stuff or buy the things I need to make it. I like anything with silver and pale blue. I have 7 rectangular tables to decorate.
A: Congratulations!
Aside from color motifs, do you have any other theme that you'd want to consider? The most common centerpiece is flowers and/or candles. You can place blue candles in a bowl of water and then sprinkle it with silver glitters for effect. This looks great if your going to hold your reception at night or late afternoon.

Q: What are some nice table decorations for a wedding reception?
I am not and Over the top person and we want a simple but classy look.
Ps its in a thai restaurant and the restaurant itself has enough detailing!
A: A trio of tall pillar candles in different sizes grouped together. You can also arrange them nicely & use a sheer ribbon tie. Or, since it is in a thai restaurant, some bold colored pillar candles to bring out the colors of the decor. Great with the atmosphere. Good Luck!
Q: Any ideas for table decorations for a retirement party for an electrician?
Using 6ft round tables. Having party close to New Year's.
A: I would use small extention cords, and plugs etc. mabe seperate the place settings with them. Use cut cords to wrap around napkins. Use wall plates with sticker for name cards, cut out where the hole is in the plate to show what it is. Have fun with it.
Q: ideas for table decorations for monthly sr citizens meetings?
I have to prepare tables in the simplest way, not too expensive, for monthly senior citizens luncheon. I have ideas for the months that pertain major holidays like Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas,et.
Need ideas for January, April and so forth.
A: I have to do that as well. What I do is I take big hurricane candle holders and place things in it that reflect the colors and feelings of the season or holiday. Like in fall I use colored rotini pasta as a base then getting green, orange, and maroon candles. For fouth of july get red hots with blue and white candles or conversation hearts and candles for valentines day. You get the idea. It's really simple and very festive and inexpensive.
Q: I have to do table Decorations and 100% eatable cake for chiness New Year for cub scouts any ideals?
chineese New Year for cub scouts for blue and gold banquiet I need help about table decorations and 100% eatable cake its the year of the rat
A: My Cub scouts and I made "firecrackers" we took red tissue paper squares(3"X3") and put old crayons that were broken inside, rolled the paper around them and then with a little bit of tape, sealed the ends. they actually looked like hard candies. then we took a white paint pen and wrote the letters TNT on the side. Turned out great! As for the cake you could try making a cake version of the "firecracker" or look at pictures of Oriental Dragons to see about doing a cake like that. Good Luck. Just a quick suggestion, instead of a cake...How about fortune cookies? You can make them yourself and add your own fortunes to them.
Q: Would you or have you hired any wedding items, table decorations etc?
My sister is getting married next November and is looking to hire most of her items bouquets, decorations, table displays ,pew ends, toporiary trees, chair covers etc.She seems to think this will help to save money ,have you any ideas for the cost of hiring such items so I can help her with her plans.Maybe you have already hired such items and know the prices etc.Would be very grateful for your help.
A: You usually rent most of your items. The church, reception hall, chairs, tables, linens are all usually rented. The cost of it completely depends on where you live, what you are covering it with. Of course if you are layering tables with one tablecloth and a sheer overlay, it's going to be more expensive.
Tuxes are normally rented. You purchase flowers, bridal gown, bridesmaids gowns, shoes/accessories, and that's just about it.
That doesn't really save you money b/c thats what everyone does.
My caterer included all rentals in her contract. She did my tables, silverware, glassware, and linens all in her contact. You can save the most money on alcohol. If you do an open bar with mixed drinks, you could run a $5,000 bar tab. If you only serve white/red wine (or no alcohol), you can save all that. Look for reception halls that allow you to bring your own alcohol. Then you can buy discounts by the case.
