Q: Birthday decorations?
Any ideas for cool & inexpensive decorations for a birthday party? It's for a teenager so nothing too childish..but just some fun stuff. I love crafts so anything crafty I could do to decorate would be fun. I know I want to use lots of stars and green and silver colors in the decorating.
A: Once we bought super cute gift bags from the dollar store and put a little jar with flowers in them and some tissue, they made awesome centerpieces and we sent them home with guests. Also Balloons are way fun, especially outside the front door. Window paints are fun. Hang tin foil stars all over, that would be cute. Star cookies? Silver paint marker draws on almost everything, and green too. You could draw on a plastic table cloth, plastic anything really. Good luck!
Q: What do you think of a mother that would rather buy birthday decorations for a friend?
Last night I was shopping with a friend of mine for decorations for one of her friends birthday. This friend has her children every other week. Her daughter's birthday was yesterday. She spent over $30 on the decorations for her friend then said she didn't have enough money to do anything for her daughter. Her baby girl turned 8 so she still is a baby. She tried to justify this by saying "I've done something for her birthday every year. I think her Daddy should take care of this one!" I started to say something but held it back because I was so mad. Please tell me what you would have said to her. I am still steaming about this.
A: I would have been steamed, too. Your friend sounds immature.
Sounds like your friend needs to get her priorities straight.
Kids don't ask to be born to us, and that little girl needs to be her #1 priority.
I think the buying things for the friend means she is trying to keep her friend "buttered up" to keep the friend providing child care (which makes her a little bit of a user).
May also be trying to impress her a little.
She seems to have a lot of animosity toward the girls father... which is sad for the little girl.
Be nice about it, and try to be understanding, but I would tell her that the little girl needs to feel loved and special at home. The 8 year old is going to get her feelings hurt if her mother does nothing for her, and then does a lot for a friend.
It is up to her mother to try to keep her child from being hurt, not to inflict it. Talk about hammering a child's self esteem!
Also tell her that she can not control what the daddy does, she can only control what she herself does.
And she needs to set a good, mature example of the kind of woman she wants her daughter to be someday by following the golden rule. Good luck :-)
Q: Where can I find cute/fashionable birthday decorations online?
I will be having my son's 1st birthday party the first w/end of March. I am a young, modern mom and want my childs party to look amazing. Party City and all the online sites I've visted have the same Pooh / Baby Einstein crap. I want something baby blue, simple, and not THEMED. Could anyone help? Also, does anyone know of anywhere I could buy a shirt for the birthday boy?
A: I know what you mean when you say all the party websites decor has a themed. What you could do is turn it into a do it yourself project. If baby blue is the color you want get the plates, cups and that in that color.
...You could also decorate with bubble wrap since blue is kind of assosiated with bubbles and rent a bubble machine or something. Then have helium filled balloons in both clear/white and baby blue. If you have simple decor you can balance that out with a fancier detailed cake.
Q: Where can I find angel-themed decorations for a birthday party?
I'm going to the Philippines to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday and we want to throw her an angel-themed birthday party to commemorate my late grandfather who watches over us and also because her name has "angel" in it. I'm looking for disposable things like confetti, hanging things, wall decorations, banners and such. I live in the DC area but will most definitely buy some online if I can only find some! Thanks for any help you can provide.
A: I hope you can get someone dressed as an angel to play a harp. You could get each guest to say a few words about who they think THEIR guardian angel is, and why, and what that guardian angel has done for them, and if they knew your late grandfather (as they probably do) they could say a couple of words about him and your grandmother. Let them know on the invite that this is going to happen, so they can prepare. Say it is not compulsory. Some will be enthused and rave on and maybe others will be shy and not want to say anything. There are books about guardian angels and maybe you could give one as a prize for the best words or give one to your gran if she still cares for reading. If you are holding this in a restaurant, confetti is often banned. I went to an angel themed party and guests were issued with angel wings to wear. They were shaped like angel wings but smaller, of plastic with bits of glitter on. And halos covered with duck down.
Q: Creative Birthday Decorations?
I am throwing a surprise 40th birthday party for my husband and I am renting a banquet room at a hotel. I was reading the contract, and it mentions not being able to hang or tape any decorations to the wall or ceiling. If I do, there will be an additional charge. So, how can I still include decorations withing hanging them?
A: Decorate the tables... the rest of the room ??? head shaker to me
Good Luck
sew

Q: need ideas for birthday party decorations that cover every month of the year for 130 girls?
this is a girls camp with a cruise theme. each night is a differet theme. 1st night we want to have a big birthday party. we need to set up tables to seperate grls according to the month they were born. need ideas on how to decorate each table and the lodge in general. thought about using holidays or seasons and even birthstoneswhich i loved but cannot find 2 website with the same birthstone information. we want it to be special and affordable. party favors too-help!!!
A: January- garnet birthstone so you could either do a red theme or find some red colored rocks or fake gems or just do a happy 2008 theme with icy blue colors and party hats for ringing in the "new year"
February- play up the birthstone of amethyst which is purple or do a valentines day theme with red hots (candies) red table cloths and tissue paper in pink
March- birthstone is Aquamarine which is highly expensive and it is hard to find I wouldn't do the birthstone of this month but I would play up the fun of March's cooler weathered plants coming back to life like tulips or St. Pat's day with the clovers
April- diamonds..you could find those big huge fake diamond rings or diamond looking accents for the napkins etc. I would play up the fact that it rains a lot in April or April fools day. gag gifts like whoopie cushions and umbrellas with fake tinsel hanging off them like rain
May- green emerald colors and you could use the cinco de mayo theme with pinatas and "margarita esque" drinks
June- beach theme summer time, beach balls, sand in candle holders with some sea shells and little mini sunscreens or cheapo glasses
July- red, white and blue theme (I'm american and that is USA to me!) have some red table cloths or white ones, flags, things of that nature use those items that look like tinsel in different colors to make a firecracker effect with a vase
August- peridot or light green color which you could play up for the table.Or just do a different theme of outdoors with fun things to do to beat the heat since august is a relatively HOT month (water balloons, popcicle makers, mini fans)
September- dark blue sapphire color which could be used for this or you could go with a back to school theme with books, rulers, cool pens, markers erasers etc.
October- halloween theme for sure play on the pumpkins, and witches gouls theme endless possibilities there have a cauldron on the table and fill with candies and little goodies like pencils etc.
November- turkey's on the table, leaves all over, pretty oranges, yellow and brown colors. November is citrine which is a rich yellow color and it could be played up for the table. Add a cornocopia for presentation if you would like
December- have some fake snow on the table the stuff that looks like cotton balls or heck buy cotton balls and place around in clumps on the table for a snowy effect. Have some wrapped dummy packages or have some dradels along with this theme so that you can support everyone's religious backgrounds. You could use gift wrap to decorate the table or table cloth with or even make place mats with the stuff
I suggest that for each month you take the theme's above and make name tags for the campers with the theme's in mind. example: December- stocking or candy cane shaped name tag...March- clover shaped name tag..etc.
Have fun with it!

Q: Good websites for babies first birthday party decorations?
My daughter is turning 1 year old at the end of September. I'm trying to find some nice, inexpensive decorations for her party. Does anyone have websites for this? I'm also having a hard time finding a theme so if anyone wants to volunteer ideas there too, that would be great. :-) Thanks for the help!
A: www.celebrateexpress.com is the site we ordered my daughter's birthday decorations. Its affordable and the standard shipping was faster than what I had expected. My daughter had a Princess themed party and I also liked it because it had the number "1" for her age. I got everything from the "1" candle to the tablecloth. I will definitely order from this site for her second birthday next year.
Q: Where is the best place in the North Dallas or Plano Tx, area to buy 50th birthday decorations and gag gifts?
A: Either Party City and Spencer's Gifts. Spencer's has alot of 50th birthday gag gifts. Along with some decorations. And Party City I'm sure would have tons of 50th decoration and some gag gifts. I would check them both out. In fact there is a Spencer's Gifts in Collin Creek Mall and a Party City right across the highway from it. Those two are close together so you don't have to drive far between each.
Collin Creek Mall Address:
811 N Central Exprwy. Plano, TX 75075
party City outside the mall:
3308 N Central Expwy Plano, TX 75074
There's many others in the Dallas area. But I thought I would post those since there so close to each other.
