Q: Who knits & crochets the samples at Michaels crafts stores?
Whenever I'm in the yarn section at a Michaels craft store, I usually see knitting samples such as scarves and baby blankets. Who makes these? The reason why I am asking is because I can both knit and crochet and am wondering if there's a chance of getting some part-time work doing this myself.
A: I wondered the same thing! When I asked I was told that they were supplied by the yarn manufacturers to show gauge and how a particular yarn works up. If you're looking for work, why not see if they will let you teach a class. I know the JoAnn's stores hire people for that.
Q: How do I get the michaels arts and crafts flyers in the mail?
Michaels sometimes has these weekly flyers that have 40-50% off coupons in them. I was wondering how I can get this flyer in the mail? Do I need to subscribe to it at my store? If not, where else can I get the flyer every week?
A: It's just delivered to certain neighborhoods. You can call 1-800-MICHAELS and arrange to have it mailed to you. No subscription needed.
The call center may not handle this, so if they don't, then call your local Michaels store, ask for the manager, and make yuor request directly to him/her.
Q: Michaels and Joannes arts and crafts coupons for Feb/09?? Where can I print some out or find some?
Would anyone have a link to Michaels or Joannes arts and crafts stores for the month of Feb/09? Perhaps some that I can print out? I'm planning a shopping trip today! Any help would be appreciated. I've found some around the internet, but they're all expired.

That's what it says on the card they gave us at my Michaels. If you don't know your user id and password then you would have to get it from your manager before you can get started.

A: No. It is against company policy.

A: there are different courses and you will need to start with course 1 and get your certificate before they let you take next course. They will teach basics in course 1

and can you use Indian ink for tattooing ink?
A: Sarahliz gave you the answer where to get it but be extremely careful before using it as the instructions on the bottle when I used it was to heat it with a hot iron to make it set and it was not just a quick swipe over it.. I don't think you want to do that but you may want to check it out and see if there has been a changes in the ingredients.

A: Yes they do. (The people above me are WRONG.) I've bout one there before, that's where everyone in the marching band that I'm in gets them.
They're with the regular t-shirts. It even comes with a black bowtie.

Q: Who is/where can I find out who is the regional manager of a Michaels Crafts store in Iowa?
I've had a major issue with my local Michaels Crafts store in Davenport, Iowa and need to find a regional manager to discuss the issue with but since I'm kind of at war with the store I can't get the information from them. (They charged the credit card I'd left for the deposit on some flower arrangements for my sister's wedding - our written agreement said they should be $7 per piece and I was charged $35...per piece...on 100 pieces?!? You BET I'm at war with them!)
Even when I've had other people call to ask, rather innocently, "How can I contact your regional manager?" the sales clerks play 20 Questions about why the caller wants to know, then says they're "not able" to release that information ~ help, I can't afford the price tag of their bad customer service!
A: You are right--it makes no sense to ask the sales clerks. If you want to speak to the regional manager, it means that you want to get them in trouble. It's no surprise that they won't tell you his or her name.
Go instead to the corporate offices. For Michaels, you could call the national customer service number: 1-800-MICHAELS. Or, you might try sending e-mail: custhelp@michaels.com
I wish you very good luck. And, by the way, if you can't get anywhere, keep a record of who you call (get their names, even if it is just "Crystal" or "Rob") and the time and date you spoke to them. Then call the local newspaper. Is there a columnist in the paper who writes one of those human interest/local government columns? Call that person and pitch a story to them about a company that won't even give out its own name. NOTHING gets attention at the top like a news story.

Q: Michaels Crafts - framing?
Do they originally have prices double of regular framers so they can run a 50% off sale? I brought an odd sized photo in to get custom framed, and was disspointed in their service and availability. Thinking Ill try an independent framer, but curious if Michaels is that much less
A: I've had very good luck framing things myself using materials from www.pictureframes.com. It can be hard to tell what frames may look like when you order them online, but I've been pleased with everything I've ordered from them.
They have an online Personal Frame shop that allows you to upload your photo, enter in the dimensions and try out different frame and mat combinations. You can even change the wall color to see how it would look behind your picture.
However, since monitors differ in the way colors are displayed, I highly recommend ordering their mat sample kit if you're going to mat your photo. I can't find the link on their website - they may have taken it down, but it's worth calling and asking for a set of samples.
I've found this method to be a LOT less expensive than a craft store or framing shop, and their staff is very helpful.
One final tip - you can always pick up a frame locally, then just order a custom cut mat from the framers.
