Q: Where can I find fun crafts for kids?
I am a youth pastor and I am trying to find fun crafts for kids ages K-5. As they get older crafts are a lot less fun and most of the craft books I find only have crafts that would entertain the younger ones. So does anyone know where I can find fun crafts for older and younger kids?
A: This willl certainly keep even the oldest of kids entertained.
Also - coloring books are very good, painting, making stuff out of clay and even decorating an old t shirt with markers (not the washable kind, though).
Q: What are some crafts small kids can do with feathers?
We are working on some crafts for our county fair for my kids to enter. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for feathers. Kids range from 5 to 10.
A: I have seen some cute turkey stamps with feathers glued on for the tail. I actually want to try this myself. A bag of feathers is a reasonable purchase price at your local craft store.
Q: I'm looking for some easy but thanksgiving day crafts for kids?
I have nieces and nephews ranging in age from 6 to 13 and I am looking for some crafts that will keep them busy. I have looked online and found some interesting ones (most of which require numerous supplies. Money is tight) Do you have any favorites that went over well in previous Thanksgivings that wont cost a fortune for 6 kids?
Sorry, won't let me edit after I posted. Looking for easy inexpensive Thanksgiving crafts.
A: Well, you probably won't find an all-around craft that's as fun for the thirteen years olds as it is for the six year old. There was a huge age gap when I was growing up so that I was fourteen and my cousins were six, seven and nine. I definitely did not want to paint turkeys with them.
Maybe you could rent and pop a classic movie on, like a disney flim?
Coloring books are generally well liked but as with all "crafts" you need to think about the green and purple streaks that could appear on your walls.
Q: What are some fun kids crafts. I have to help plan the kids crafts table for my company party.?
There will be about 75 kids. Any good, somewhat simple ideas that will keep them busy? Also, I would like to have something that they could take home.
A: i think a good kids craft would be...
1st...break them into groups of about 20
then give each group items like a milk carton, ballon, marker...
tell them to make a boat out of the equipment and see which boat can hold the most amount of eggs
Q: Looking for Valentines Crafts for Older Kids?
Any ideas for Valentines Day crafts for the older kid crowd (like grade 6-8)? Last year we did Hershey kiss roses, which they LOVED!
When I do online searches though, many of the crafts seem a bit too "babyish" for these older kids, so any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Q: What are some 1 hour kids crafts ideas?
that can range for different ages? I looked online already, but they want me to teach some unique crafts for children, the trick is to be done within an hour.
A: you can make clay with flour sugar water and salt ,then make something .ps veg. oil also .
Q: Would you pay to have me teach your kids arts and crafts?
I'm an artist and have a lot of experience working with children and people with developmental disabilities. I would love to start a program where I would come to people's homes and show kids, adults, whoever is interested in arts and crafts projects.
Painting, stenciling, drawing, assemblage, sculpture, beading. I have a lot of ideas which aren't limited to just children.
Basically I need some feedback before I venture into this idea.
A: I love crafts and always am looking for new ideas. But, I have to say, I wouldn't want you to come to my home to teach me or my kids. I'd much rather go to a well-equipped studio or classroom to learn. That way I won't make a mess in my home, I don't have to have room dedicated to learning a new craft, I don't have to invest in materials before I'm sure I want to pursue it. I'm sure you're good with kids and adults, but I don't think the idea works for a lot of people.
Q: I am a camp couselor at a day camp and i need ideas on activities and arts and crafts for kids?
There are about 90 kids from ages 6-12...I need ideas to keep them occupied!
A: I recommend this site a lot, have found many ideas there myself:

Here's another that I stumbled across the other day:

Q: Need suggestions for typical Scandinavian kids crafts that are practical.?
I am hosting a Scandinavian exhibit at my school's international festival next month. I need suggestions for kids activities and easy food recipes, as well. I was thinking of having Danish hot dogs but can't seem to find a store in the US that sells them. Could someone help me with suggestions?
A: Well, Lego would be an obvious choice for kids' activities, as well as HAMA beads. Depending on how much space and time you have there are other games like "kick the can" (a type of hide and seek/catch) or "poisoned earth" (mostly for younger children).
Danish hot dogs is a good idea, but yes, it's usually difficult to find the right ingredients. Can you get frozen "æbleskiver" where you are? Serve with icing sugar, sugar and jam...the kids usually love them. Otherwise, if you have the possibility to do some cooking of your own, Danish Frikadeller (meat balls) have been a hit with all my foreign friends and family. You can "fry" them in the oven to save time and effort and freeze them until you need them (heat up before serving). Serve with cold potato salad with chives, onions and creme fraiche - otherwise there's always Danish cookies or pastries/cakes served with hot chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream.
(Should you need it, I'll be happy to help with more suggestions and/or recipes.)
Q: Does anyone know any paper crafts for kids in the summer?
This is for 10-12 year olds. They want to play with paper, but they do not want a really hard thing to do, such as origami. And remember, this is for the summer.
A: Here are some paper ideas... ( and more than just paper )

Q: What are some good arts and crafts ideas for kids?
I'm looking for ideas for kids ages 6-12, both genders. I want them to include everyday items, and keep them at a low price. Websites please!
A: This site breaks the crafts down by age.

Q: Fun crafts for kids or ways to teach them about different types of art.?
My daughter's school is having an art night, and I would like to have a booth. It's geared towards K-5, but for more complex things it can be limited to the older grades. I believe that the max. amount of time that a session at each booth lasts is 30 minutes. I'm in need of several ideas. If it's teaching them how to do something different artistically (rather than just a craft) it would have to be something they can do hands on. Thanks in advance for any responses.
A: This may be too juvenile, I don't know, but when I was younger I would take triangle shaped pieces of paper (colorful origami paper, wallpaper samples, anything that is pretty and has texture. You roll them up and put a dab of glue at the tip of the triangle so it holds the bead together. Then you string them and wah-lah! You have a necklace. You could do other things like made door beads to hang, bracelets, etc.
Oooh another craft is one that even I do. I take baby food jars and around the rim where it reads the brand, I put deco tape (very common at craft stores and online). I put one-sided sticky magnets on the flat side to stick to the fridge. On the other side where you want to make it pretty I take that foam like craft paper and trace a circle from the lid and then cut it up and place it right in the lid, it will most likely stick. They you can decorate with a school pictures, stickers, beads, glitter, etc.

There is a great art program at my daughter's school. This is just another way to celebrate how important art is. They do several themed things throughout the year and this is just one of them. Being an art teacher I would hope that you could use your expertise to help me rather than make assumptions.
By the way a lot of the booths are run by local art students and all the art teachers from the district participate as well as parents who have art related degrees. My booth well be one of the less important ones. There are booths that are more involved and those that are intended to be the filler in between.
What about making prints onto blank cards or shirts? Is that a bad idea?
Stay@home...you're not at all on the wrong train.......keep em coming. I don't need this today I'm just anxious to find a bunch of ideas and then have the luxury of choosing one out many.
A: Like origami or something like that? Could you do a how to for the paper birds, I think that is fairly simple.
What about a demonstration using an artists style - like Seurat the dot - his style should be something that most kids can replicate
I'm drawing a blank. I might add more if I can think of any. Hope that was useful. let me know if I'm on the wrong train of thought.
EDIT - Ancient Egypt - clay work - they have quick drying clay that doesn't require a kiln I've seen in art supply stores doing like hieroglyphics or even "cave man" drawings in the clay
illustrator - you can make or buy blank books to let the kids illustrate a story that they make or you make up
paper mache project - although that may take too long to dry unless you can disperse it after the fact
If its around a holiday (or regardless)- maybe have a sewing themed one - either with simple cross stitch or make a quilt square - with that one they could all be sewn together to make a quilt to donate somewhere
Jewelry making - some beads and thread or that flexible plastic stuff that they sell in art supply stores
stained glass
okay I think my idea factory is done. I liked this question!
Have fun!
Q: Do you do arts and crafts with your kids, or have arts and crafts as a hobby ?
How many of you enjoy arts and crafts as a past time ?
It seems that some of the more "old fashioned" crafts have been relegated to the older generation. Can you knit ? Can you do needlepoint ?
A: Yes I can knit, crochet, quilt, patchwork, bead, cross stitch, embroider, tapestry, have a go at a lot of things. Try to pass on my skills to children either at sunday school, of primary schools and to the local children in the neighbourhood. used to run a craft club at my old church.
My son who is now 20 has had a go at a lot of crafts and is now wanting to have a go at making a quilt and is quite happy to sew on his own buttons! He has inspired me a number of times to try something new!
It is upto the older generation to pass on their skills so that they are not lost.
Q: I'm starting a monthly kids craft club for my community. any ideas for crafts m and activities?
the kids will be divided into 2 categories : 4-6 and 7-10
also we will be hosting a girls only 'slumber party' as well as a boys only day , any ideas for these ??
thanks !
A: I used to work at a childrens science museum and taught classes ...
I would try themes, and do the same theme for both age groups, but age appropriate:
Pirate theme - 3D treasure maps using all sorts of random craft stuff, making their own treasure chest out of a shoebox, pirate hats, etc.
Slumber party - Beauty: make their own soaps, sand candles, sleeping masks with feathers, etc.
Animals - learn and create - teach the children about a Lemur or some random animal they've never seen and have them make their own masks.
Oh this is a really really good one if you can do it in the summer, or find a heated pool: This needs to be a full day project, for both girls and boys (and you will need a TON of duct tape, a ton of it):
Float Your Own Boat - give the kids as much cardboard, string, duct tape, regular tape and other tools and have them make the biggest baddest boat they can -to be tested in a time trial at the end of the day.
Do a search online, there is a wealth of information out there... also look at the classes that your local museums (science and art), local groups, etc. are doing and draw some ideas from them. Many of them have summer classes and have lots of ideas.
