Q: craft ideas?
what are some good unique craft ideas that i can make that will sell for a decent amount of money

A: One of my hobbies is checking out the street and craft faires in my area. This year I am starting to see a new trend that is obviously making the vendors the big bucks judging by the attendees leaving with their merchandise. Doggie couteur is HOT. At the last faire in the winery, there were two vendors. One sold handmade "designer" doggie outter wear, everything from booties, to scarfs, to sweaters and coats, to halloween costumes that were handmade and very detailed. She also had beautiful doggie bedding, blankies and food dish placemats. The other was selling gourmet homemade organic doggie treats and toys of all sorts. Both booths had items above and beyond what you commonly see in the pet stores. The faire started at 8 AM, and both booths were nearly out of merchandise by 11 AM when I got there. Seems to me that the designer doggie merchandise is the next hot seller in the craft faire circuit.

Q: What are good craft Ideas to make to bring to the nursing home?
Me and a group of friends are going to fisit our local nursing home and i was wondering if anyone had any craft ideas that are easy and very affordable that i can make and take with me. Thnks!

A: Lap blankets and slippers are great ideas. Some other items that are often asked for are eyeglass cases and walker totes. Both quick and easy to crochet, knit, or sew and they are very useful. Or maybe sleeping caps, I know it's old fashioned but one charity drive I did was specifically requesting hats that could be worn to bed. You might want to make some door decorations (call first and ask if they are allowed). I'd make something that's not necessarily Christmas-y so they can keep them longer. Maybe you could call ahead and ask if there is something that would be really appreciated. This is a great thing you're doing. Have fun!

Q: What are some good craft ideas for school clubs to make?
I'm Spirit Coordinator for a club this year at my school and we have spirit judging each week there's a pep rally. Most of the judging is for signs and posters around the school, but some of the judging counts for spirit items that different clubs hand out, like small laminated paper footballs that say "Computer Club loves football" and stuff like that. What are some good, easy, and cheap craft ideas for the club to do?

A: You can make Spirit Pins out of beads and safety pins. Just use the small safety pins and add a couple small beads with the school colors. Clip the pin onto a piece of paper that has your slogan on it. You can also laminate a one or two line slogan and attach it to the pin. Then the students can wear the pins with the school colors anytime. To bead safety pins, put the beads on the pin. Close the pin and with a pair of pliers, gently pull the loop apart at the back end and slip the beads around the loop until they are on the top of the safety pin. Pinch the loop back together. You can start a Spirit Tree. If you can obtain a portion of a school wall or bulletin board, build a tree trunk. Use brown tissue paper and roll it and scrunch it into the shape of a tree trunk with branches. Let the tissue paper be 3D and not flat on the wall. If you can't use a wall, make a free standing tree and move it around. Hand out leaves (either dye cut or hand cut) with your slogan. Ask them to write something good about the school, or root for their favorite sport or just ask them to Join in the Spirit Tree with their first name. Hang the leaves from the tree. You could leave a folder attached to the wall (or tree whatever the case may be) with leaves so that anyone can grab a leaf and leave their message. You can either staple or tape them to the tree. You can hand out paper bags to make a big noise at the spirit assembly. Put your slogan on the bags, hand out the bags to kids as they enter the gym. Lead them in a rousing school song and end it with a bang-where everyone gets to pop their bag in time with the song (if possible). You could make it a competition from one side of the room to the other...who can be the loudest! Make sure you have recycle bins at the doors when the students leave so they can dispose the bags properly. Hope this stirs up some ideas for you. Have fun on Spirit Day!

Q: What are some craft ideas that are relatively cheap and will appeal to kids of all ages?
The youngest of the kids is 2 and the oldest is 10. I need some ideas for craft ideas that can do but they can't cost very much and they have to be fun for all of the kids. Please help.

A: hello, we have 5 children, what we do is go to hobby lobby and Wall-mart. each store has a bargain center. we get wooden cars and things like that for the boys and the girls get little ceramic things that they can put together and paint. all together for supplies and paint we get for about 30.00$ a week. we let the kids pick out what kind of crafts they want. as long as each little project is 1.50$ or less. it's not that we can;t afford more, it's that the kids learn a budget and some pride in doing it themselves. hope this works. good luck.

Q: What are some great, simple Easter craft ideas for kids to make?
I want to know some simple Easter Craft ideas that young children can make. Are there any ways of making a simple easter basket out of cardboard or any other recycled material that can be filled with easter eggs? Any ideas would be welcomed.

A: Make some peanut butter Easter Eggs.

Q: Anyone have any good craft ideas for a 21 month old?
My daughter is 21 months old and LOVES anything to do with crafting. I'm looking for some fun, safe crafting ideas that I can do with her. We've just started painting, I started her with watercolors first to see how she could handle it. She likes to put everything in her mouth so she needs to be closely supervised and all products need to be non-toxic. If anyone has any painting or craft ideas that we can do together I would really appreciate it and so would she .

A: Kool-Aid Play Dough: (non-toxic) 1 package of kool-aid 1/2 cup of salt 2 cups boiling water 2-3 cups of flour Mix kool-aid, salt, and water. Add flour. Mix until smooth. Store in zip-lock bags.

Q: What are some good last minute craft ideas I can do with the children to make gifts for daddy?
I was thinking on helping my children who are six, nine, and twelve make some presents for daddy today. I am wondering what would be some simple craft ideas to do with them to make presents for him that I could use with household materials or other cheap materials? I have several craft supplies hanging around already including glitter, glue, tubing, foam squares, etc.

A: Using a foam-like "paper" (I don't know how else to decribe it) I like to make photo frames. You can glue or tape a nice family photo on and then decorate with glitter, stickers, gel pens, etc. and then put some craft magnets on the back and you can hang it on the fridge :) It's fun, easy, and cheap.

Q: Does anyone know of some good Daycare craft ideas and indoor activities?
I work at a daycare in an elementary school. On Fridays we just have 20 or so kids ranging in age from 5 to 11. It is so difficult to find crafts or activities that the Kinders can do and that the upper grades enjoy, especially the boys. Does anyone have any ideas? I love would love to come in and WOW them with a super fun craft or indoor game this Friday. Thanks all!

A: Here is an indoor or outdoor game that is fun: It's called 'Have You Seen My Cat Lately' How you play: Everyone sits in a circle. (They have to sit on their bottoms and not on their knees, which would be cheating.) One person (I’ll call them ‘person one’) walks around the outside of the circle and asks: "Have you seen my cat lately?" Everyone else replies: "No, what does it look like?" Then person one starts describing a person in the circle. (Like: "It has a blue shirt, long hair, purple shoes, is a girl” etc.) Once the person being described knows it's them (person two) they get up from their spot in the circle and chase person one. (Always walk/run it the same direction around the circle.) Person one will then run around the circle and try to get to person two’s seat and sit there. If person one gets tagged by person two, then person one will sit out the next round (or be out of the game, or sit out three rounds, that part is up to you). (Have them sit in the center of the circle.) Then person two gets to walk around the circle describing the next ‘cat.’ If person one gets back to the seat without being tagged then they are not out and are still in the next round and person two gets to walk around the circle describing the next ‘cat.’ This game can go on as long as you want. It is kind-of a variation of duck, duck, goose. I learned it during a summer day-camp. There were kids from the age of 5(ish) to 13(ish) I don’t quite remember the age range, that’s just my guess. Also Charades is always a fun game. Have a little kid pair up with an older kid and have the two do something together. I don’t know what this is called, but I played it once in third grade: Split them up into teams of two (or more if you’d like.) Have the team’s make something out of colored construction paper, but make sure no-one but that team knows what it is. Then everyone closes their eyes while each team takes turns hiding their picture in plain sight. So let’s say team one made a bumble bee and you had a black and yellow poster, then they’d tape it to that so it blends in. Once everyone has ‘hid’ their pictures everyone tries to find the pictures around the room. Everyone can either try to find them together as a class, or you could say which ever team finds the most pictures wins. Bingo is also fun. Here’s a couple websites for some: http://www.dltk-cards.com/bingo/ or http://www.teach-nology.com/web_tools/materials/bingo/ Here are some craft websites too: http://www.freekidcrafts.com/index.html http://www.kidsturncentral.com/crafts/jenicraftindex.htm http://crafts.kaboose.com/ http://www.education.com/activity/all-grades/all-grades/arts-and-crafts/?cid=57000.0015&s_kwcid=ContentNetwork|1783147915&gclid=CIC02uPph5kCFQJ2xgodETStmQ http://www.allfreecrafts.com/kids/index.shtml#activities http://www.amazingmoms.com/htm/kidsart.htm#quick_and_easy_art You can also get old magazines and have them cut out pictures for a collage. (If they are too little to use scissors have an older kid help them.) I hope this helped. Enjoy! ~MJ PS – I’m fourteen. My mom is an elementary school teacher. I’ve done a lot of babysitting and I’ve helped out in a class room before. :) If you ever want anymore ideas feel free to ask.

Q: What is a good website for children's craft ideas?
I am a stay at home mom who also started doing home day care. I have run out of easy craft ideas for the kids. I need to find some websites that have some easy crafts for them. I would also like some of the crafts to be somewhat educational so the kids can learn something while making the craft.

A: Papercrafts are easy and cheap, although not necessarily educational. I love The Toymaker at www.thetoymaker.com. Click on "free toys" at the top. You just print them on your computer and cut them out. Most take a little gluing. The tiny puppet theaters are adorable, and stimulate creative thinking. Jim's Printable Mini's has some cool stuff too - even dollhouses. http://www.printmini.com/ Robert Sabuda's pop-up cards are fun - http://robertsabuda.com/popmakesimple.asp If your kids are young, they might enjoy WonderTime magazine's pages: http://wondertime.go.com/create-and-play/printables/

Q: Any one have some craft ideas for Cristmas gifts that can be sewed?
need some sewing craft ideas to make as gifts. Something that can be used year-round, for both man and women. Or any good free sites besides HGTV site?

A: I used to sew quilt and pillow sets for fun. It takes no time, and they're a gift you can put a lot of yourself in to. Also, I take old band shirts, cut them up, and sew them into more 'modern' styles.

Q: What are some good bible themed craft ideas?
I need 2 or 3 crafts to go along with the story of Creation and 2 or 3 to go along with the story of Walking on Water. I'm going to Mexico in August for a mission trip for our church and are organizing a Vacation Bible School down there and we really need some fun craft ideas for these stories. Also keep in mind that they speak spanish and we don't speak it fluently so the crafts need to be pretty easy to describe to the kids. THanks so much for any ideas you have.

A: check out this http://www.orientaltrading.com/application?namespace=browse&origin=home.jsp&event=catalog&categoryId=377709&tabId=teachingSupplies&cm_sp=VBS-_-VBS-_-VBS you could also make creation bracelets with pony beads, each bead being a representation of each day of creation. have a great trip!

Q: Does anyone have any thanksgiving craft ideas for kids?
I'm helping out at my moms daycare tomorrow and thought it would be fun to come up with a creative craft to do with them. There will be 4 of them ranging from 1-2nd grade (there is no school tomorrow) there will also be a 3 yr old (who is VERY smart for her age.) Do you have any fun/creative project ideas, or a website that i can find some?

A: With only four kids, I might do a cooking project, like making cookies. Other ideas are in the pages linked in the source list below.

Q: What are some great craft ideas for a 7-8 yr old girl?
I am a participant in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and I have recently been matched with a 7 year old little girl. I would really like to get her interested in doing some crafts activities. What are some fun and easy craft ideas that I can do with her?

A: Until you find out what she's good at and where her interests lie, I'd suggest trying a variety of inexpensive crafts projects. At a crafts supplies store (like Michaels) you can find what they call Fun for One kits and similar items. These are single-project kits that don't cost more than a couple of bucks. I'd suggest getting a plaster or wooden item to paint, some beads to make into stretch bracelets, a simple felt stitching project, and anything else different that you can find in these kits. When you see what she likes best, get more of that one; be sure to try a few different things first. You might also try a small indoor garden with kitchen herbs. Baking or cooking would probably also be fun to try with her. Using some of the herbs she grew in a cooking project would be a special treat.

Q: Do you have any good classroom party games or craft ideas for kids?
I'm organizing my son's 3rd grade class party at school. I would like to have a game and an easy craft. **Ive looked at several websites for ideas but they all pretty much suggest the same things** I would really like something different. Thanks for your suggestions. IT IS FOR THEIR CHRISTMAS PARTY

A: Well, I remember when I was in 3rd grade. We had a party...w/ a twist to it: A gingerbread man hunt. • The teacher would cut out or make a gingerbread man with paper. and hide it somewhere in the school. and we went to each class asking them if they'd seen a gingerbread man walking around anywhere. they'd say no. but they would have a piece of paper with a clue on it as to where the gingerbread man would be. and each class they we went to. we noticed that we were getting closer and closer to it. then finally we found him!! Yay! Then , the teacher would bring out a treat for he class for helping her try to find him: Actuall gingerbread men. But, they didn't have anything on them. and she had bought a whole bunch of diff. colored frosting and candies to decorate our gingerbread man with. then we ate 'em. they were so good! Yum! See, THE GAME is try to find the gingerbread man, cuz he ran away. and THE CRAFT is to decorate you own real gingerbread man then eat your masterpiece or work of art!
