Q: How do you remove christmas tree from initial stand?
I need to get the tree off of the wood it came on (it's nailed on) and get it in the Christmas tree stand.
A: Have someone hold the tree while you hit the wood with a nice big hammer. Aim your blows parallel to the trunk, towards the base of the tree. Rotate the tree after each blow to slowly work the nails out of the trunk.
After you get the base off, saw a bit off the trunk to help the tree absorb water.
(I guess the shortcut method would be to just saw a hunk off of the trunk, base and all; but this assumes the tree has enough spare trunk to go around, which is not usually the case.)
Q: How do I put together a christmas tree stand by hand?
im going to tryout for a temporary job and was wondering a few things. for a fourteen year old would it be easy trying to put together a christmas tree stand all by hand? And How is it easiest incase they interview and ask about experience?
P.S. I have alot of good skills and could probably do sales for the trees. any tips?
A: At 14 I wish you luck being able to do it because it's not legal for you to work. As for the stands, they generally come with instructions, that or they are really basic and not hard to figure out
Q: What does the Christmas tree stand for?
I wonder what the Christmas tree stands for. Is it a pagan tradition?
A: The tradition of the Christmas Tree started in Europe and is first recorded in the 16th century, well into the Christian era. There is NO evidence at all of any connection to paganism.
The first Christmas trees were put up on Christmas Eve and were decorated with fruit and nuts (now replaced by glass baubles and candy). Christmas Eve used to be counted as the Feast of Adam and Eve. The connection is obvious - the Christmas tree represents the tree in the Garden of Eden.
The birth of Christ, the second Adam, transforms the tree from a symbol of our fall to a symbol of our redemption. That's why there is a star on top (or an Angel) announcing His coming and lights for the light of Christ.
Q: A Musical Rotating Christmas Tree Stand?
I am searching for a Christmas Tree stand that rotates, and also plays Christmas Songs. I can't seem to find it anywhere, and it seems as if I have looked everywhere. HELP!
A: It sounds like one my parents had about 25 years ago. I knew some day some one would want it ..... my mother tried to tell me when I threw it out, but she never wanted to throw anything out.
Q: tips to make a christmas tree stand from home?
Boyfriend came home with a christmas tree last night and all my x-mas stuff is in another state where i used to live. Dont feel like driving 10 miles to go buy one is there any tips to make one out of stuff from my basemet? (got lots of wood and stuff)
A: Depending on the size of the tree....cut 4 boards from 1x2s or 1x4s. appox 14 to 18 inches long. And this is going to be hard to descirbe. They will stand on one edge. Place them in the floor so that each piece is going in 4 directions. Leg, 2 will butt into leg one(approx 4 inches from the center end) and leg 3 will butt into leg 2(approx 4 inches from the center end) and leg 4 will but into led 3. This will form a box opening in the middle where all the legs spread from. You can adjust the size of this hole to the size of the tree trunk. Nail the wood together and nail them to the tree trunk. You will need more than one person so you get the tree standing straight>
You may have to use some wedges to shove around the tree truck into the opening of the stand to stablize.
If this doen't make sense, email me and I'll draw you a diagram lynarts@flash.net
Q: Can someone recommend a really good, strong Christmas tree stand?
or where to get one--for a real tree about seven feet tall.

This brand is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. My parents have used theirs for 10 years and we just bought ours for the first time this year. No complaints.
It isn't plastic like most other models on the market. I would assume they sell the same style no matter where you live.
Q: What is the best thing to put in a Christmas tree stand?
We've always used plain water does anyone have other ideas? Other than the tree itself, hehe
A: Use 7-up instead of water. This will keep your tree from dropping its needles too soon. The sugar and the carbonated water keep the tree alive longer and nourish the branches so it stays fresher longer.
I personally buy a tree with the roots on. Once Christmas is over, I plant the tree in the yard. Because I live in a cold climate, I dig the hole before Christmas and pop the tree in. It's a great way to save the planet...and get some nice trees in your yard at the same time!
Q: How much water should I put in the Christmas tree stand?
It can hold almost a gallon, but is the trunk of the tree supposed to be submerged into the water, it won't make it rot?
A: Hopefully the tree's trunk was cut at a diagonal to allow it to soak up the water. You should fill the tree stand to within about an inch of the top and check it every day to see if it needs more water. It will drink a lot right at the beginning and then slow down as time goes on. You got your tree pretty early so make sure the stand stays pretty full. You don't want a dry tree as it's a fire hazard.
Q: How to make a Christmas tree stand from wood.?
A: I would suggest useing red wood &make it water tight . a cut tree will take up gallons of water to keep it from drying up and the needles from drying up. the reason for redwood it will swell when it get's wet.[ they used to use it for gutters in s.f.calif.
Q: What is the best way to clean a Christmas Tree stand?
It's all sappy and dirty and seems tough to clean.
A: take it outside or in a well ventilated room and use a bucket full of hot water w/1/4 cup ammonia or turpentine and a good brush. when you put the mixture on the stand with the brush try to let it set for about 10 minutes or so than reapply more and scrub .if this doesn't work call a garden center like at Lowe's and ask them what they have to remove pine sap.
Q: What does the christmas tree stand for symbolically?
I wonder this every year... I know it has to do something with paganism...
A: There was a quote of the pope on CWN:
The Christmas tree, John Paul said, is "an ancient custom that exalts the value of life," because the evergreen tree remains unchanged through the harshness of winter. When gifts are arranged under the tree, the Pope continue, it because a symbol of "the tree of life, a figure of Christ, God's greatest gift to all men."
The popularity of the Christmas tree in the US was started by a Protestant minister of German ancestry who brought the German custom to his church in Lexington Mass
Q: How can we get our Christmas Tree to stand straight in the stand?
We got a typical plastic stand for our tree with the 4 screws you screw into the trunk, and after a few hours of struggling, our tree is leaning against the wall because we can't get it to stand straight without falling over! Any suggestions?
A: This is like solving for "Pi" or the Unified Field Theory - Man may puzzle over it for centuries without a viable solution.
The best we have come up with so far is:
1. Make sure the tree bottom is cut flat, and not angled. This will help.
2. Loosen screws and place tree in middle.
3. Have someone (wearing gloves) hold the tree.
4. Slowly (very) screw each side one turn at a time, moving around to each screw.
5. When done, the tree SHOULD stand straight up.
6. Tree falls over
7. Throw in garbage, purchase artificial tree.
Q: What can I put under an 18"- across Christmas tree stand to protect hardwood floors & catch any excess water?
A: If no plastic available I take a garbage bag and cut it to fit my bigger tree and then fold the corners back under the tree skirt. GL
Q: where can i get a real christmas tree stand?
A: Thrift store

If you're looking for a tree stand that lasts a very long time and can hold a huge tree...any of these will do. Some are a little pricey but it's worth it considering the one I bought has made it through 5 Christmas' already.
