Q: Is it really needed to hve fake or real christmas trees at home during christmas?
Is it really needed to hve a fake or real christmas trees at home wd a different lights in order to celebrate completely the spirit of christmas? How about the poor people, how can they celebrate completely the spirit of christmas if they can`t afford to decorate?

A: of course not! christmas is not about the food, the lights, the presents, the tree, or santa! christmas is about God giving us baby Jesus as a present and the nativity! its about Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem and Christ's birth! as long as you can tell the story of Jesus's birth you have Christmas in your hearts and around you! if anyone is interested in helping the poor i have a few ideas! last year i baked a bunch of christmas shaped ornament and about four-seven times a week i would go sell ten cookies for ten dollars! many people were very generous and donated but some were rude! after on the 21st i believe i gave all the money to an organization that bought presents, food, hats, gloves, and jackets for poor and needy families around christmas time! I made about $400 dollars and i was so proud of myself! that was when i truly realized i believe that it truly is more fun to give then to receive!

Q: How many have put their Christmas Trees up today?
Today I did! Ive been so ready for Christmas, and its a tradition of my familys to put a tree up the day after thanksgiving. Nothing more pretty than a tree with soft glowing lights & ornaments, presents galore, with soft christmas Tunes playing. Who agrees?

A: I really do agree with you, however this year I missed the day after Thanksgiving so I'm going to do it tomorrow. I can't wait until the lights go up. merry Christmas to you and your family.

Q: What to do about cats and Christmas trees?
Was talking to my girlfriend the other day and we were not sure what to do about our Christmas tree this year. I know my Maine Coon will just knaw on the needles where she can reach, but the other one scares me. I'm afraid he's going to have a field day with th ornements. He's generally not destructive, he just likes to get into things. So any ideas? Awesome ideas. I like the idea of using non breakable ornaments on the bottom part of the tree. That will let my girlfriend put her crystal ornaments on the top part. Also the fishing line to the ceiling is an outstanding idea. I have water bottles in almost every room already. The problem with is my trouble cat never associates things he isn't supposed to do with getting sprayed. Also, boarding is out of the question, how will they get to their stockings on Christmas morning. Thank you for the responses so far.

A: I have cats and yes, some are fascinated with the Christmas tree. So we always put only plastic or non-breakable ornaments on the bottom 1/3 of the tree, and be prepared to hunt them from under your other furniture after the holiday. Also, keep a spray bottle of just plain tap water on hand. Keep it out of sight, but watch your cats. When they go near the tree, squirt them with the water. The water will freak them out, and they will associate it with the tree, not YOU. Because they don't like the water, they will stay away from the tree! You have to be persistant with it for a couple of days, and if possible, lock them in the bedroom at night away from the tree so you can be consistent with your training.

Q: How can you get cats not interested/not able to knock down real Christmas trees?
We have 3 cats. We have a 13 month, a 12 month and a 4 month. We got the 13 and 12 month old cats at the same time in May. We just found the 4 month old last week in our garage. Every year we get a real Christmas tree and with 3 kittens we're concerned that they will knock it down. We also use lots of glass ornaments. Any ideas or suggestions?

A: There are animal repellents sold at grocery stores/ pet stores that have no oder to you and I but animals cant stand it, so if you spray it around your tree I doubt they will mess with it. my dog LOVES to lay on my bed so I spray it around it and he wont come near it now.

Q: The Christmas trees-What kind of Christmas tree do you plan on using this year?
and what kinds of decoration do you plan to use on your Christmas tree this year, are you planning on using just one color for the lights all over your tree or rainbow colors.

A: White Artificial Christmas tree with multi-color lights, plenty of homemade and store bought ornaments, icycles, string artificial cranberries, and candy canes.

Q: Is it true that Christmas trees are just big phallic symbols?
Is having a Christmas tree in your living room like putting a big, green, erect penis there to put presents under? And if so, how can one reconcile this practice with Christianity?

A: You need to put up a whole bunch of boobies and vaginas around the house to balance it out.

Q: Impact on the fall of Christmas trees?
In recent years, the price of artificial Christmas trees has fallen while the quality has risen. What impact has this even had on the price of cut Christmas trees?

A: The prices of cut Christmas trees has fallen due to a fall in their demand.

Q: What kind of trees are used for Christmas trees?
Just wanted to know which trees would be perfect for Christmas! Can you help out?

A: For our family, we use an artificial tree, but it looks VERY real, in fact, everyone askes "how do you get your tree to stay so green?" when I tell them that it's an artificial tree, they totally flip and are like "no way!" We chose an artificial tree for a few reasons: 1.) I have HORRIBLE allergies, and real trees in the house are NOT my friends! 2.) It's cheaper - pay a one time $70 for an artificial tree that will last 10 or more years versus $40 every year for a real tree. 3.) An artificial tree doesn't dry out 4.) Because they don't dry out, artificial trees are less of a fire hazard than are real trees 5.) No stupid pine needles all over the floor to get stuck on your socks or to poke your poor cat on its paws. 6.) With an artificial tree, you don't have to worry about how you are going to dispose of the thing or where you are going to dump it or about dumping it at all - you just quickly disassemble it , throw it in the box and stow it away in the basement for 11 months.

Q: Why do people still have up their Christmas trees and Christmas decorations?
My neighbor has up a full on Christmas tree with lights and he turns them on at night. A tree thought?!?!? and turn it on too?!?!?!

A: Because he also has Jiffy Pop as a smoke alarm.

Q: How much are real Christmas trees this year? Have their prices gone down because of the recession?
I am in college and don't have much money, nor a car to put a Christmas tree on. How much would a tiny, real tree cost( can't go and check myself because I don't have a car and don't want to waste the time walking or on the bus just to see that I can't afford it.)

A: Depends on the selection that is available in your area. The tree lots around here are selling 6-8' pines for $25, and 6-8' fraser firs for $40. I work at a nursery, and we have a huge selection of trees - Fraser firs, Canaan firs, Balsam firs, Douglas firs, white pines, scotch pines. The cheapest ones are 3' Canaan firs for $9.99, and 4-5' for $19.99, 4-6' Balsam firs for $14.99. Call around to nurseries and garden centers in your area - they are more likely to have a broader selection than the tree lots.

Q: How do you prepare land for horses pasture that has been planted with rows of Christmas trees?
We are purchasing land that used to be a christmas tree farm and I want to have horses there. What is the best way (and least expensive) to make it ready for horses...besides fencing...Can they live w/tree stumps if we just cut them down?

A: I would hire someone (unless you have a chain saw and a lot of spare time!) to cut the trees off at about three feet high and also cut off any lower branches, so all you have is a stump sticking up. The other option would be to cut them at ground level, but this could be dangerous because a horse could step on one when running, etc., and trip or damage their hoof or tendons. If they're high enough to be seen easily, the horses can graze closely around them, but most likely won't run into them. Another idea if you wanted to go to more expense and trouble, would be have a backhoe and tractor pull each tree out by the roots, then dig a hole and bury them or else burn them. That's a lot of work, but it would rid your pasture of trees and clean up a lot nicer. It's up to you. Good luck.

Q: How did Christmas trees become a tradition?
So why are there Christmas trees?

A: Legend has it that the 8th century German monk St. Boniface felled an oak tree that was sacred to the Norse/Teutonic god Thor, and in its place grew a fir tree. Boniface perceived this as a sign that Christianity was the true faith, and used the wood of the oak to build a church on the spot. However, it was not until the 16th century that fir trees were brought indoors and decorated during the Christmas season. Additional history is indicated in the source link.

Q: What do you love about Christmas trees?
I love Christmas trees because they give me a warm feeling in my heart and they remind me of the Christmas trees from my childhood,I can get emotional just thinking of all the wonderful memories?

A: i love the warm feeling i get from being around large groups of young children - around chrismas i dress up as santa and ask them for hugs ;)

Q: Christmas tree poll-Who has one of those Christmas trees that turns slowly by itself when it is on?
My family had one of those Martha Stewart Christmas trees that turns slowly whenever it is on,I just love looking at the tree and how beautiful it is,I LOVE Christmas and will be in the spirit of Christmas all year long even after Christmas is over,be sure to visit my 360 page.

A: thats stupid. the whole point of a christmas tree, is that you get to put all the tacky decorations at the back so no body can see your tacky cheap deco's. and then all the nice ones go at the front. i dont want everyone seeing my ugly deco's
