Q: String Lights (Christmas Tree type) ~ how do you tell which bulb is burnt out?
You know how when 1 bulb in a string of lights burns out ~ the whole thing stops lighting? Is there an easy way to find the culprit and replace it quickly to get it lit up once again? Or are you doomed to try each one individually? Or just buy a new string light?
A: It takes patience and a lot of it. Holding the string up towards the light, look closely, the defective light(s) has a little black dot with scattered debris surrounding it. That's the culprit.
Replacing it will save money, but, if your patience are short, or you're working in a limited time frame, just go out and buy a new set.
Q: Christmas tree lights gone out?
I decorated my tree with lights and they were working perfectly. I went out of the room for an hour, I've come back and now none of them are working. It is a loop of wire. Could it be one light that's blown, or the fuse, or what? Any help?
A: Just buy new ones, mine started flickering and then went off so just new ones it will save you time
Q: Christmas lights-What do people mean when they say the Christmas tree wouldn't be completed without lights?
I have seen Christmas trees that didn't have any lights on them they just had decorations and stuff, and they still looked beautiful, scratch that I mean they still looked very beautiful.
A: I've seen beautifully decorated Christmas trees w/out lights. When lights are added it brings out the Heavenly effects of what is already there. For example, if you are walking along a beach at night, the moon and stars are the Heavenly Bodies that beautifies the ocean. The same effects with lights on a Christmas tree.
Q: Does anyone NOT have lights on their Christmas tree?
My husband wants a real tree this year, and I've never had one. I'm nervous about the tree catching fire because of the lights, and I'd rather just not put lights on it. I've never seen a Christmas tree without lights (or I haven't paid attention). Does anyone have a tree without lights? How does it look?
A: I don't know that I've ever seen a tree without lights, but I'm certain it could be done.
Here's some tips for taking care of your natural tree, though, to keep it fresh through the holiday season:
(1) If there's anything close to you, go and select and cut your own tree from a tree farm. This is much fresher than those that you can buy in front of a store or on a lot, which have been sitting out for a while. Plus, it's an enjoyable trip with the family.
(2) Shake the tree down to remove any dead needles before bringing it into your home.
(3) Use one of the stands specially created for live trees, it has a reservoir to water the tree.
(4) Before placing your tree in the stand, cut approximately 1 inch off the bottom of the tree (even if you've cut it fresh and brought it home). From that point, cut notches into the bark about 1/4 inch from the bottom. This will give the tree a chance to drink.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Nothing creates that Christmasy smell in the home like a live tree!
Q: Can anyone tell me how to determine how many outdoor Christmas tree lights are needed based on the size of the?
A: Tree? I use 4 strings of 35 lights on my 5 foot tree. Just depends on how many lights you prefer. Windows? The string of lights usually tells how long the strings are in total length.
Q: Christmas Tree Lights?
How do you put them onto the tree? top to bottom? bottom to top?
A: Start at the top and work your way down.
Q: Is there a specific christmas tree light that will make christmas lights twinkle (go on and off)?
If so, where would I obtain one?
A: ya it's called a flasher bulb. the bulb is clear with a red tip. just go to walmart and get a pack of refill bulbs. that should have one in it, just check. Also when you get a string of lights you should get a flasher bulb as a spare in the package. If you don't get a flasher bulb in a new package of string lights then you must not have got them from this continent...like seriously every box has them...
Q: When you put a blinker bulb on your christmas tree lights does it take a few minutes for them to blink?
A: yes it does, it takes about 30 seconds for them to warm up
Q: How to put christmas lights on tree?
I need someone to explain to me how you put the lights on the tree by weeving them up and down the branch? Where do you start? I have been on web sites every where and they say to do this because it makes it glow from inside out and I have seen it done on pre lit trees. So can anyone explain this to me like your talking to a 5 year old? LOL
A: Many DIYs hard been electrocuted or broken some limbs trying
Easiest way out for me
I doused it with fuel at 11:59 pm
Throw a lighted match on it
At 12 midnight it gives me a splendid Christmas tree alight
Q: Too Early For Christmas Tree & Lights?
My family already put up the christmas lights up & the christmas tree & have decorations like garlands, ribbon, etc. This all happened yesterday (11.29.08). Do you guys think that this is too early?
A: No it's never too early! I say the earlier the better. I've had mine up all year long like always because the elves love the decorations and it helps them get in the spirit and work harder. Christmas is the best time of the year and if someone thinks your weird because your celebrating that then they have no Christmas spirit. Have a Merry Christmas!
Q: Half of my Christmas tree lights (4 strands) went out. How do I fix it?
Do I need to buy some little fuses for each of the strands, or do you think it is likely I will have to take down half of all my decorations and restrand it? They are just the typical little mini lights that you can get anywhere and they have worked fine for 2 weeks.
A: If the entire strand went out, that is typically caused by a fuse. There are typically 2 or more separate sets of lights in each strand, so if just a portion of the lights are out, that typically means a bulb is broken or missing (most new ones still work when the bulb is burnt out). In your case especially, I would suggest checking the fuses on the first strand that is burnt out. You should not connect more than 3-4 strands together, because they will draw too much current and either blow a fuse or cause a fire.
Q: What's the best (easiest) way to put away christmas (tree) lights?
A: Roll up a newspaper and wrap a string around it individually. Use a different rolled up paper for each strand.
But I agree with other answer, buy a prelit tree...they are fantastic...well worth the money!!
Q: I'm I a freak for loving a christmas tree and lights and all the holiday music?
I have co workers and friends who rag me about my love for Christmas. I'm offended!
A: Just ignore it. Christmas is awesome!!

Q: Does leaving the lights on a Christmas tree for long periods cause it to turn brown faster?
We'd like our Noble Pine tree to be green at Christmas. We enjoy turning on the lights whenever we're home, but if this causes the tree to turn brown faster, we'll keep the lights off. Will it make a difference?
A: No it won't.
