Q: what does it cost to have a compay light your house in christmas lights?
with trees and all

A: If you are talking outside, it depends on how many trees, bushes, and how large and tall your house is. There are a lot of companies out there who do this these days. Generally speaking, for a normal 2-story house, you could be looking at an INITIAL cost of between $1000 to $2500 - again, depending on the "package" and number of lights used. I say INITIAL cost, because most of your better companies that do this will install and remove the lights, store them, and if you use them the next year, the installation cost is 50 to 75% less. Some companies offer a package of colored LED lights that you can use year round, i.e., red & green for Christmas, orange for halloween, green for St, Pat's day, etc.

Q: How do you hang christmas lights on the exterior of your house without making holes in the stucco?

A: Hardware stores carry heavy duty two-way tape that should be ampple, but it can be a pain to remove off couse textures. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Q: Do you decorate your house with christmas lights? ?
and how much is to much?

A: Yes, I decorate every Christmas. This year, I put up multi-colored lights. Sometime in November is a good time to put them up so it's not too cold when I put them out. I don't think you can have too many lights. In my town, there is this one person that's about 80 years old and has been doing it as long as he's lived here and he puts out a lot of lights every year. I wonder how fast the meter usually spins...lol =)

Q: when to set christmas tree and lights around the house?
i mean, when the right time to set the christmas tree is? and when to put all christmas stuff away? if possible, i'd like some specific dates.thanx:) ya'll in advance!

A: Wow, Lonely, that really depends on an individual's schedule and preference, but I'll tell you what we do at my house. Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday in November, so it's hard to give specific dates. Because our kids are out of school after Thanksgiving, we set up an artificial Christmas tree on the day after Thanksgiving (Friday) and they decorate it. On Saturday we set up the outdoor lights. We usually take the tree and the lights down the Saturday following New Year's Day. Some years we get a small real tree as well. We wait until 2 or 3 days before Christmas to get one of those, because by then the Christmas tree lots just want to get rid of them, and we can get a beautiful $40 or $50 tree for about 6 bucks. Since it's been outside all that time, it's still fresh and smells great. (A real tree that has been indoors for a month can get pretty dry, even when it's kept in water.) We also take the real tree down on the Saturday after New Year's Day.

Q: Have you already put up Christmas lights on your house? Is it too early to do so?
I think it's WAY too early.. but I guess you should do it while it's still warm, ey?

A: We haven't, but it isn't too early. I think anytime after Turkey day is fine.

Q: What color Christmas lights will attract the most children to my house?
Also, do the younger children prefer the ones that blink?

A: This question is quite odd. But, usually white, dangling lights attract my eye, the natural blink goes with the wind, so you wouldn't need special lights. I think, white lights on the roof-top, and colour on the bottom, like for decorating a spruce tree outside, or having little colourful ordaments laying on the lawn. My question for YOU, is, why are you wanting to attract young children? (o_O)

Q: Christmas lights blew a main circuit, knocking out power in several receptacle plugs in my house. Any fix tips?
I've replaced the circuit breaker, but it still hasn't restored power to the 5 different receptacles through my house. No sign of a short on the receptacles (ie.. black burn marks on receptacle covers), so should I just replace all of the receptacles in question, hoping that will fix it? Could it be a shorted junction box? I'm confident with those type of repairs. Any other suggestions as to what I should be looking for?

A: any of the receptacles a GFI? if so check to see if it is tripped if so reset it. if no GFI then check to see if power is coming out of breaker if it is then go to the first receptacle in line and check it if it is bad or wire loose that is your problem. if no power on out side of breaker check to see if it is seated well. to test the breaker pull it out and then make sure it is on and use an ohm meter to check it, with it on you should have little or no resistance when you check it. check your old breaker if you still have it the same way the breaker may not have been bad.

Q: POLL: Whats your favorite type of Christmas lights to see on a house?
I like the big multicolor ones.

A: I love the colored icicle ones :) especially blue

Q: Christmas lights: cost of professional installation?
How much does it cost to professionally install Christmas lights. My house is about 2000 sq ft and single story. I'm not looking for an insured and certified professional but how much does it typically cost to have lights installed by someone else.

A: If you just hire a handyman and pay by the hour, you will probably pay $15 to $20 per hour if he is experienced and competent. Then your cost will depend on the amount of lights that you want put out and the number of hours that it takes to do it. You will need to supervise the work to be sure that your handyman doesn't do something that could cause an electrical short or start a fire or something. All the wires need to be carefully inspected to ensure that no wire is exposed and the hangers need to be done properly so that the wire insulation is not damaged when installed or when blowing in the wind etc...

Q: Does it make me a better Christian than my neighbor if I have more Christmas lights on my house than he does?
See you in hell, sinners…….from heaven!

A: I'm gonna google map your house just to see if it's glowing...xxx <~sinner

Q: (POLL) Do you have christmas lights decorating your house?
We have a couple of reindeer on the roof, but thats about it.

A: We have blue icicle lights and twinkling stars decorating our house.

Q: Can you put up a Christmas tree with lights in a house full of active todllers ?
What kind of decorations will be safe?

A: Sure you can. When my kids were young I put up the tree INSIDE a play pen so the kids couldnt get at it. Or get a small tree and put it up somewhere high so they cant reach it.

Q: Who was the person who thought of putting Christmas lights up on the house?

A: The first known electrically illuminated Christmas tree was the creation of Edward H. Johnson, an associate of inventor Thomas Edison. While he was vice president of the Edison Electric Light Company, a predecessor of today's Con Edison electric utility, he had Christmas tree light bulbs especially made for him. He proudly displayed his Christmas tree, which was hand-wired with 80 red, white and blue electric indandescent light bulbs the size of walnuts, on December 22, 1882 at his home on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Local newspapers ignored the story, seeing it as a publicity stunt. However, it was published by a Detroit newspaper reporter, and Johnson has become widely regarded as the Father of Electric Christmas Tree Lights. By 1900, businesses started stringing up Christmas lights behind their windows. Christmas lights were too expensive for the average person; as such, electric Christmas lights did not become the majority replacement for candles until 1930. http://askville.amazon.com/tradition-putting-Christmas-lights-house-start/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=6233355

I've seen an internet video that shows a house decorated with christmas lights. The lights flash on and off to a tune. I don't recognize it as a Christmas tune, but like it nonetheless. Anyone have a guess as to what is playing?

A: wizards in winter by the trans siberian orchestra, cool shit aye?
