Q: How do you make a string of LED lights for an outdoor Christmas light display?
Radio shack sells packs of LEDs, but how do I make them light up? I don't know much about electronics. Learned right away that they aren't like light-bulbs that light up by going directly from a battery to the bulb.

A: i agree with botoboto buying a string of pre-made christmas lights will be much easier, if you are interested in understanding electronics grab a introductory book and work your way up this will save you lots of money by avoiding big mistakes

Q: Could you tell me where to buy a string of Christmas lights that run on batteries and have a remote control?

A: I have NEVER seen any like that. I have seen battery operated lights, BUT the strands are only about 10 long and they last only hours. I have never seen Battery Operated lights with a remote.

Q: i want to hook up christmas lights on my 07 gsxr?
i want to hook up christmas lights on an 07 suzuki gsxr and when i hook them up to the battery they wont turn on!!!!

A: Even though the idea is questionable, you can find battery operated lights (usually run off of C batteries) at a craft store or somewhere with lots of christmas stuff. You can put the batteries under the seat and run them all over the plastic. Maybe even some garland and a wreath. I wouldn't do any of it but I wouldnt make fun of anyone for having X-mas spirit. Good luck.

Q: Series and Parallel Circuits with Christmas lights? Help!!!?
Can someone help or describe how to make a series and parellel circuit in a simple way with christmas lights. What type of battery? Thanks

A: http://www.thebestlinks.com/images/1/11/Series_and_parallel_circuits.png that web picture is the simpliest I have seen it hope it helps :)

Q: Does anyone know where I can find decorative (not Christmas) battery operated lamps?
I have 2 areas in my new home that do not have access to electricity but need lighting of some kind

A: Your best bet for decorative is an RV supply. You can buy camping lamps at Walmart.

Q: I'm looking for a christmas shirt/sweatshirt?
I had one about 15 - 20 yrs ago and there are battery operated christmas lights in it. Help!! Where can I find One. I am going to an outside christmas party and thought it would be original, cute/ funny and warm.

A: Wal-mart had a bunch of lited shirts for kids, maybe they will have one for grown ups too. Better yet buy a sweatshirt with the deco you want and put your own lights on it. They sell the battery lites at craft stores. That sounds like fun I think Im gonna do that too!

Q: is there such a thing as christmas lights for the outside that run on batteries? I have no electric outside.?

A: There is such a thing, but they are not as good. Batteries won't last long. Generator is not a good idea for a house, they are noisy and expensive to operate. Your best bet is to just run an extention cord out the window.

Q: Is there an Advantage to using AA's instead of a 9v battery?
I am rigging up LED christmas lights to run on batteries. 9v batteries are much smaller than a 4 or 8 pack of AA's. Is there any advantage to using AA batteries instead of a 9v?

A: Not really, But I think the 9v batteries would last longer and like you said they are smaller and easy to hide. Good Luck.

Q: Need LED blinking lights for Christmas Display?
Ok, here's the deal. For Christmas, I have a large star that I made last year out of rope light and blinking lights that I put on the mast (pole) that holds my weather station. This year, I'm adding another additional star inside the big star made of blue lights to signify the son we are expecting in April. I also wanted to put a single LED flashing light in the smaller star for a heartbeat (and to piss off the neighbors... hee hee). My problem is this: I've bought a battery operated LED strobe light that you're supposed to use on a bike, while running, etc. The documentation says that the light will run for about 100 hours - not near enough for the christmas season. I want to figure out something that will let me power up the blinking LED's with the power that is already going to the lights on the star, but I can't find anything out there that is a AC powered LED blinker/strobe. I also can run DC up the pole if needed, say from a 6 volt lantern battery. Any ideas?

A: LEDs are DC only. You can put a diode in series with the AC. But check the voltage of the AC. You could run up a separate DC supply. I guess it uses AAA batteries. Why not use the same number of D cell batteries (as they are the same voltage and have much higher capacity). Solder wires to the terminals and wire into your flasher.

Q: Christmas Window Candles? Where can I get battery operated Dusk to Dawn or timer?
Christmas Window Candles? Where can I get battery operated Dusk to Dawn or timer? Not looking for those LED light ones (since they are way too dim and barely light up anything). Also, do not want flickering ones, just straight up regular ones with timer or dusk settings that are battery operated (to avoid cords to windows). Any help would be much appreciated!

A: Walmart and Walgreens are popular places that have them........

Q: Why do Nextels have such poor battery life?
I just got an i880 for christmas. With light usage the battery lasts maybe a day. Other Nextels I've had had similar battery life. Why are they so horrible compared to other phones?

A: Nextel service doesn't roam. This means whenever the phone is out of service it is continually looking for service. This will drain batteries much faster than normal services that do roam. Also they like to sell extended batteries for twice as much.

Q: need help with installing tiny electrical lights?
without giving away my idea :) i need to know how i can install a light bulb as small or smaller than a christmas light inside of my sculpture and have it run on batteries. is there anything i need to know as far as wattage or basically to make sure the battery doesnt blow up the sculpture? im guessing i will need 9 tiny lights. also how do i connect them? just solder the wires to the battery input? or is there a whole complicated system of capacitors and whatnot i have to deal with? does the size of the wire matter?

A: You can buy strings of little bright LED Christmas lights that run on batteries. Wire size doesn't matter; you can either use the string as it is or re-string them. The advantage of buying them already assembled is that you don't have to think about that stuff. http://www.littlebrightlights.com/site/1435548/page/777017 Good luck!

Q: Christmas Decorating Ideas?
i want to decorate my locker of Christmas. and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas? so far, i'm gonna put wrapping paper on the door and i have battery powered christmas lights. but i want to be MORE into the Christmas spirit. so, all ideas are appreciated!

A: Hang a stocking on the inside (to avoid people from putting foolish things into it). Even if it stays empty, everytime you open your locker it should put a smile on your face. You could put a bow at the top seeing how you're going to "wrap" the door. Maybe a pack of cinnamon scented pot pourri (or whatever scent you like) if you're allowed to have fragrences in your school. Good luck

Q: Would this work? wire battery operated houses?
I have 5 or 6 little battery operated Christmas houses that light up and flash, they all take 2 AA batteries, i was wondering if possible, how hard it would be to wire them all together to a switch or something, so i could put them on a shelf over the window out of reach. I was thinking maybe we could use a stran of mini battery operated Christmas lights, you know the kind that only have like 10 or 15 bulbs, would this work? cuz right now you have to flip them over to switch them on, which kinda messes up any display you might set up. i was thinking if that doesn't work i might take them apart all together and just put a few Christmas lights in each one to light them up. i dunno. My boyfriend knows how to do some electrical stuff, so I'm sure if its possible he could do it, but i thought i would get some other opinions if it would work ok first.. cuz he seems to think anything i think up is possible :P

A: Sounds like a good idea. Just gut the existing circuitry, and put in the Christmas lights.

Q: What is the best method to power some christmas lights on my boat.?
I have a 26 foot cabin cruiser. Want to put a lot of christmas lights on outside for a parade. I don't have any generator. I was thinking of an inverter off my battery but, I will be running at over 1,000 lights. Can I buy a very small generator like one used to power outdoor tools. I think I saw one once that was very small and like 100 dollars. What is my best option. I don't have a permanet place to mount a generator. It would have to be sitting on swim platform as to keep fumes away from cabin.

A: I have decorated my boat for several lighted boat parades and we found that we needed at least a 2000 watt generator to light a few thousand mini lights. A 3500 watt generator was needed to light our most ambitious creation on a 30 ft boat. We used an extra muffler and mounted the generator on deck and lashed it to a stanchion. Try to rent or borrow a generator that will provide more than enough for your planned light display. It may grow larger than you are planning. You can compute your needs if you know the total output of your light display. Typically 300 mini lites draw about 1 amp. given the formula: Amps=Watts/Volts For example 110 watts/110 volts = 1 amp You will need at least 120 watts per 300 lites to give a little headroom on the generator. Have a fun time in the parade !!!
